Ingredients: 1 cup all-purpose flour, 2 big eggs, cup of buttermilk, cup softened butter, 1 teaspoon baking soda, teaspoon baking powder, 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract, 1 cup white sugar, cup unsweetened all-natural cocoa powder,
For filling: cup Kirschwasser (cherry brandy) (optional), three cups chilled heavy whipping cream, 2 cans cherry pie filling or pitted cherries, cup confectioner’s sugar, Maraschino cherries or sweet cherries (for garnish), Milk chocolate curls or shavings (for garnish),
Instructions:
Preheat your own oven to 350 F and properly set a non-stick paper within your 9-inch cake pan.
Have a big container, add in softened butter as well as sugar. Beat by using an electric mixer until sugar gets melted and until mixture is white-colored and light.
Beat in one egg, then the other, blending in between every single addition. Put sifted flour, baking soda, baking powder, cocoa powder, buttermilk, as well as vanilla extract. Blend till even.
Move the mixture in to the 9-inch cake pan and bake within the pre-heated oven for 45-60 minutes or till you can pop in a toothpick within the middle of your cake and it slides out clean and dry. Don’t overbake your cake.
Gently Take out from your oven and then give it time to cool for a few minutes. Working with a long sharp knife, slice the cake side to side into 3 equal layers (it’s much easier to slice when the cake was chilled first for several hours).
Preparing the filling:
Having a strainer, drain cherry pie filling and pour in any container. Cover up and then put aside for some time, you may refrigerate it.
Using a different mixing bowl, cream together whipping cream along with confectioner’s sugar right up until fluffy.
With a vegetable peeler, shave chocolate and then set in another tiny mixing bowl. Refrigerate until cake is completely ready for filling.
For Assembling:
With the three sliced portions, spread each part with all the cherry brandy (Kirschwasser) and then place the first layer of cake in any serving plate.
Slather one fifth of the whipped cream throughout the portion and then assemble half of your cherries onto the layer of whipped cream. Gradually lay the 2nd portion on top of the 1st.
Spread another one fifth of the whipped cream and spread with remaining cherries above. Fix the third and final layer.
Once more, slather one fifth of the whipped cream on top along with one fifth on the sides. Thoroughly fix chocolate curls on the edges and on top of the cake. It is up to you to style the black forest cake.
Refrigerate for a few hours or maybe even overnight.
Relish and have fun!
